Atlanta Dream guard Jordin Canada will be sidelined for two weeks with a right knee injury, the team announced on Friday.
Canada, 29, was evaluated after Wednesday's 80-70 preseason road win against the Washington Mystics. She started the game but quickly departed and had to be helped to the locker room.
A two-week timeline means Canada will miss next Friday's season opener against the Mystics in Washington, D.C., as well as the Dream's home-and-home series with the Indiana Fever on May 20 and 22.
Canada averaged 10.6 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 20 games (18 starts) in her first season with Atlanta in 2024.
The two-time WNBA champion and two-time All-Defensive selection has career averages of 9.0 points, 4.9 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 202 games (126 starts) with the Seattle Storm (2018-21), Los Angeles Sparks (2022-23) and Dream. Seattle drafted her No. 5 overall in 2018.

Upon being drafted No. 1 overall in 2024, Caitlin Clark had massive expectations set for her the second she entered the WNBA. Despite the bar being set so high, the star guard continues to showcase her potential of being an all-time talent in the league. Having a full offseason to rest and recharge, Clark was in a much different situation entering year two compared to her rookie campaign. The downtime seems to have done her well, as she wasted no time reminding the world how special of a player she is. In their regular-season opener on Saturday, Clark and the Indiana Fever found themselves matched up against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. They'd go on to win in dominant fashion, largely due to the play of the reigning Rookie of the Year. Clark kicked off the 2025 campaign with a triple-double, notching 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Fever's 93-58 victory. Through her first 41 career games, she has already achieved this feat three times now. During her rookie campaign, critics tried to downplay how impactful Clark has been in the WNBA almost since Day 1. Diving deeper into the numbers, there is no denying she is off to arguably the best start of any women's player's career. Following her performance against the Sky, Clark already accounts for a fifth of the 20-point triple-doubles in WNBA history. A truly remarkable feat considering she is just one game into her second season. Along with adding another triple-double to her resumé, Clark now also has nine games with at least 20 points and 10 assists. This is good for the second-most in league history, tying longtime WNBA star Diana Taurasi. Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot currently leads all players with 10, though it's worth noting that Clark has played in nearly 400 fewer games than either of them. Following an offseason where they made numerous additions, the Fever have been tossed around as a potential contender this season. Seeing how impressively she started the 2025 campaign, Clark seems poised to lead the charge in a big way. Clark has already proven that she's going to be a good player in the league for years to come. That said, if she keeps building off her performance Saturday, she'll quickly cement herself as a superstar at the age of 23.
Dodgers Make Massive Outfielder Shuffle After Being Swept by Angels
The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially activated Teoscar Hernández off the injured list. In a corresponding move, James Outman has been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Hernández rejoins a team that desperately needs his bat at the moment, as they were previously swept by the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game series for the first time in 15 years. As for Outman, he couldn't quite escape his inconsistent bat from last season and was batting just .125 in 24 at-bats as Hernandez's understudy. He was in the midst of a .254 season in Triple-A and will now try to improve until he gets the call once again. Hernandez has been away from the team since May 5, but was in the middle of another career season in L.A., batting .315/.333/.600 with an OPS of .933. He notched 34 RBIs, which is still tied for the seventh-most in the National league, and nine home runs in his 33 appearances for the Dodgers. The team that the two-time All-Star last played for is increasingly different than the one in the dugout he is set to rejoin. On the same day that Hernández strained his left groin, KBO standout Hyeseong Kim made his first start for L.A. and has continued to shine ever since. On May 14, the Dodgers selected the contract of top prospect Dalton Rushing to be Will Smith's new backup center. Since Hernández has been gone, the Dodgers designated veteran catcher Austin Barnes — who was formerly the longest-tenured Dodgers position player. Four days later, the team released the next longest-tenured position player, veteran utility man Chris Taylor. Although the dugout will look a bit different, Hernández will hope his electric offense remains the same as his team will try and get back into the win column on Monday and snap their three-game skid.
Blackhawks Predicted to Land 4-Time All-Star in Free Agency
The Chicago Blackhawks have seen better days. The organization has missed the postseason for five straight years, and the team is still searching for some answers. Chicago is a proud franchise, and missing the playoffs tends to make the fans anxious. The front office has some work to do if it wants to get this team back into a place of contending for Stanley Cups. The Blackhawks have a decent young team, led by Connor Bedard. But Chicago is going to need more if it wants to truly compete. NHL writer Lyle Fitzsimmons of Bleacher Report looked ahead at upcoming free agents and listed the Blackhawks as a potential option for Vegas Golden Knights star Jack Eichel. Eichel will be entering the final year of his deal with Vegas next season, and then could enter free agency. "Perhaps they'll now consider taking a run at Eichel in an effort to both placate their 19-year-old star and add legitimate prime-years talent into the top six. Eichel would be a prized trinket for whoever is hired as the team's new full-time coach, and he'd also fit nicely into its salary structure as the league's cap annually expands to $95.5 million, $104 million and $113.5 million through 2028." If the Blackhawks could land Eichel, it would be a true game-changer. The Golden Knights' star would bring a "go-to" type of player to Chicago, pairing him with Bedard. The Blackhawks are in the business of winning titles, and Eichel likely wants to win more. The pairing could be special, with Chicago possibly landing another franchise cornerstone.
Report: Dallas Mavericks Adamant On Keeping Cooper Flagg Even If Giannis Antetokounmpo Is Available
The Dallas Mavericks is reportedly adamant on keeping their first pick and drafting Cooper Flagg, even if it means potentially missing out on Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to a new rumor report by insider Marc Stein, there’s “no chance” that the Dallas Mavericks trade the #1 overall pick for Cooper Flagg, “not even for Giannis.” This comes after the franchise wins the overall first pick during teh draft lottery, securing their chance on drafting the long-projected overall first pick, Cooper Flagg. Thai also comes during the rumors that the franchise is eying Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Cooper Flagg, the projected No. 1 overall pick, represents a long-term investment, potentially anchoring the franchise for over a decade with his two-way versatility and elite potential. On the other hand, acquiring Giannis would immediately make the Mavericks title contenders, pairing him with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving for a short-term championship window. However, Giannis is 30 years old, and while he remains dominant, his addition could limit Dallas’ future flexibility. Dallas Mavericks Predicted to Dump Anthony Davis in Mock Trade The Dallas Mavericks are expected to make another major roster shake-up this offseason, with reports suggesting that Anthony Davis could be on the move. After acquiring Davis in a blockbuster trade for Luka Doncic, the Mavericks hoped he would be the centerpiece of their championship aspirations. However, injuries and inconsistent performances have led to speculation that general manager Nico Harrison may trade Davis in a three-team deal involving the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz. The proposed trade would send Davis to his hometown of Chicago, while the Mavericks would receive Lauri Markkanen, a versatile forward who could provide much-needed floor spacing. The potential deal would benefit all three teams involved. The Bulls would land a hometown star without sacrificing key young players like Coby White, Josh Giddey, or Matas Buzelis, while the Jazz would clear cap space and acquire multiple draft picks.
